Eligibility
The Bayreuth International Music Competition PACEM IN TERRIS 2014 is open to violinists and cellists of all nationalities born on or after 1st January 1982.
Application
In addition to the completed application form all participants must send the following accompanying documents:
• a copy of your birth certificate, identity card or passport
• a short biography with details of your musical education and background
(Teachers, qualifications, concerts, prizes)
• a final choice of programme with precise durations for every work
• a photo of the artist
• proof of payment of the participation fee
• a DVD (in MP4 or AVI format) with the required programme
(see the programme requirements for the preliminary round)

PARTICIPATION FEE
The participation fee is €75 and all bank charges must be paid by the candidate. It must be paid by the 15th November 2013 into the following bank account:

The name of the participant must be clearly visible on the bank transfer. Cheques will not be accepted. The participation fee will not be refunded under any circumstances. A delayed or unpaid participation fee will lead to disqualification from the competition.
ACCEPTANCE
The number of candidates considered in the preliminary DVD round is unlimited. Following the preliminary DVD round and before 15th January 2014 the successful participants will receive written confirmation of their acceptance to the further rounds of the competition, starting on 24th February 2014. The acceptance of the participants to the main rounds of the competition will be decided by the competition directors based on the results of the preliminary DVD round. There will be roughly twenty candidates per category accepted for the first main round. There is no legal entitlement to acceptance into the competition.
PIANISTS
There will be pianists available free of charge to all participants. Participants may bring their own pianist at their own expense. This must be stated on the application form.
OTHER INFORMATION
Accommodation and food expenses are payable by the participants and their pianists. Transport to and from the competition is payable by the participants and their pianists. Upon entering the competition, every participant is obliged to keep themselves free from concerts and professional responsibilities for the duration of the competition. The competition organisers are entitled to photograph and record (audio and video) all events connected with the competition, for promotion purposes. The competition organisers retain the right to approve radio and television companies to record and broadcast any competition events. The participants will not be paid any fees. The prize winners are obliged to perform in the prize winners’ concert without a fee.
The competition organisers take absolutely no responsibility for the instruments and personal belongings of the participants.
Upon application the participant agrees to all the terms and conditions of the competition, including the competition and the programme requirements.
