The jury will work to set of jury regulations.

The decision of the jury is not reversible.

All decisions are final; there is no right of appeal.

During the competition candidates may not be advised or tutored by the jury members.

THE ASSESSMENT CRITERIA INCLUDE …

… artistic personality
… musical shaping
… technical ability

The assessment follows international guidelines, with points award from 1 to 25. Professors on jury the will not assess any of their own students who may be taking part. The categories of violin and cello will be assessed separately in the first and second rounds. Only in the final round will be categories be assessed together.

At least four candidates will be let through to the finale, including at least two violinists and two cellists. The jury retains the right to only hear parts of the concertos.

Only the jury will decide the allocation of the jury prizes and the special prizes. Prizes can, but don’t have to, be awarded; prizes can be shared between participants.

The competition rounds from 24th February to 2nd March 2014 are open to the public. The order of contestants within each round and the pairs for the chamber music round will be decided by drawing lots.
