GEORG CHRISTOPH SANDMANN – ARTISTIC ADMINISTRATION

Georg Christoph Sandmann has been planning the artistic reorganisation of the International Music Competition Bayreuth PACEM IN TERRIS since 2010. He has taken over the artistic administration of the competition.
He received his early musical education at the Special School for Music in Berlin and with the Berlin Radio Children’s Choir. He then studied conducting with Rolf Reuter at the Hochschule für Musik “Hans Eisler” in Berlin. Between 1989 and 2009 he was Music Director at several theatres in Saxony, from 2003 to 2009 at the Zwickau-Plauen Theatre. Since 2010 he has been working as a freelance conductor, teacher, lecturer and pianist, concentrating on artistic, musicological and pedagogical work. He is often invited to speak on musicological topics as a guest lecturer both at home and abroad. Since 1999 he has been teaching orchestral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik “Carl Maria von Weber” in Dresden and in 2013 he was appointed to the teaching staff of the International Mendelssohn Foundation in Leipzig. www.en.georg-christoph-sandmann.de
WOLFGANG EMANUEL SCHMIDT – JURY PRESIDENT

Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt is taking over the demanding role of Jury President of the International Music Competition PACEM IN TERRIS, the first time a former laureate of the competition has ever done so.

BENJAMIN PONTIUS – COMPETITION SECRETARY

Benjamin Pontius is in charge of the practical administration of the competition.
Alongside his studies at the Hochschule für Musik “Carl Maria von Weber” Dresden he has organisational experience as a project coordinator in various artistic areas. Since 2013 he has been working as a freelance conductor, harpsichordist and arranger. He has been involved in numerous projects throughout Germany and Austria, including at the Zwickau-Plauen Theatre and at the opera festivals in Bad Hersfeld and Ludesch, Austria.
